Once that big decision has been made (to whom and when), you will need to come see us.

WHERE TO APPLY FOR YOUR MARRIAGE LICENSE
Marriage licenses are issued in the Recorder's Office located in Room 105 of the Courthouse. Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

If you will be married in Idaho, you must obtain a marriage license. If you are to be married in another state, you will need to get a license from that state.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED IF YOU ARE OVER 18 YEARS OF AGE
Both people need to appear at the courthouse in person.
  • Both need forms of photo identification.

  • Both must have a Social Security Card.

    Idaho Statue Title 32, Chapter 4:
        (a)  
    The Requirement that an applicant provide a social security number shall apply only to applicants
                who have been assigned a social security number.

       (b)   An applicant who has not been assigned a social security number shall:

             (i)  Present written verification from the social security administration that the applicant has not been
                   assigned a social security number; and

               (ii) Submit a birth certificate, passport  or other documentary evidence issued by an entity other than
                     a state or the United States; and

               (iii) Submit such proof as the department may require that the applicant is lawfully present in the United States.

  • Fill out marriage license application forms.

  • Read and sign pamphlet on AIDS in Recorder's Office.

  • Cost: $28.00

Two copies are issued -- one is for the couple, the other is sent in by the person performing the ceremony to be recorded.

 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED IF YOU ARE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE
  • Both people need to appear at the courthouse in person.

  • Both need forms of photo identification.

  • Both must have a Social Security Card.

  • One parent needs to sign for those under 18. You will need one parent for each person that is under 18 years of age.

  • Fill out marriage license application forms.

  • Read and sign pamphlet on AIDS in Recorder's Office.

  • Cost: $28.00

WHAT YOU WILL NEED IF YOU ARE UNDER 16 YEARS OF AGE

If you are under 16 years of age, you must have an appointment with the Magistrate Judge to obtain a court order permitting the 15 year old to be married.

  • Both people need to appear at the courthouse in person.

  • Both need forms of photo identification.

  • One parent needs to sign for those under 18. You will need one parent for each person that is under 18 years of age.

  • Fill out marriage license application forms.

  • Read and sign pamphlet on AIDS in Recorder's Office.

  • Cost: $28.00

WHO CAN PERFORM THE WEDDING CEREMONY? Judge, Mayor or Minister. The Mayor may be contacted at 878-2224 and the Minister is of your choice. You will need to contact these people early so you will be placed on their calendar.
